The flowers in my garden

We have mostly edible things in our garden. Most flowers can be eaten without any greater harm; dandelions, chive flowers and strawberry blossoms. We're bringing up our children to try everything and not be picky. We didn't think the 1 year old would take it quite that literally. We knew he would like to try eating grass, and that's fine. Maybe a fistful of soil, that's ok too. But to be sucking on a snail? An alive one... Bring back the picky children, I say!

Went in to London to meet the publishers of "my" book, face to face. ( Obviously not just mine, lots of people involved.) We had met before, over a colourless Skype connection and Claudette and Anemarieke looked very chic in the nippy London morning. I went on into Earls Court to see the book sitting there, on a shelf, at the London Book fair. My heart made a little jump. Hello Book!

It's been a while... I thought I'd best show some new work. Ever since our first son was born we have been telling him this troll story where he himself has the leading part and it's now gone to the point where every body in the family is involved. Over the years we have brought over a hand full of trolls to life. Our Trolls live in the old forest of Tiveden in Sweden. We've been to their caves, walked on their paths and swum in their lakes. Once they came on holiday to England and camped in our garden, but that story we were asked never to tell again. Best to keep the trolls further away, not let them get too close...

When I was a little girl we had the most amazing bedding in thick cotton and brown and white flowers printed on it. To me it was the most wonderful thing. My mum hated it. It reminded her of the seventies. She couldn't throw it away because grandma had given it to her so it served as the spare set. But one day when I wasn't looking she chucked it, and I've missed it since. Found it on a photograph though... And now, me and mum have matching dresses in the old bedding and she can't throw that away can she?!

After all the malaki with Kokka copying my designs - these great pictures came through today to cheer me up. My cooperation with Skip Hop is going very well! They have turned my patterns and drawings into this beautiful activity gym and toys. I could not be happier! And I can not wait for my boys to play with these. Weeding in the garden is good fun with a 1 year old. The "weed" ( carefully cultivated lillies and most things from the beautifully flowering herb garden ) is pulled up, roots and all and then tossed into the paddling pool. "Yum yum" he grinns while stiring with an oversized plastic spade same height he is. Maybe weeding is best done after 7 pm. I should have known...

We tried some conch chevíche in Belize a few weeks ago. It was... chewy. After that we saw a whole conch graveyard when we went diving. Just mile after mile of seabed covered with empty conch shells. We should all leave the conch be for a while and give it a chance to come back.

His own little island no one wants to visit, NO one wants to visit. They all say it’s too small. Too small they all say. It takes 3 minutes to walk it, to walk all around the island. This is where he brings, brings fishing rod, matches and salt. Once he brought a girlfriend. He will fish, he will fish, he will throw in the rod; watch it make rings on the water, all day long. He will make fire, he will spear his fish on a branch and he will grill it. Then he rows, then he rows his fishing boat. Back to the sea sore, back through the boatmen. He will row, he will row until he gets back home. His hands full of sea, his belly full of fish and his soul filled with peace.

Little Sven lived in a little read house he built himself, deep in the woods. On Sundays he plaid the violin. In the end; it only had one string left, but he still plaid on his one-stringed violin. It’s still there; hanging on a hook on a newspaper clad wall. The only ones to play on Little Sven’s violin now are the wind and the spiders. And maybe a troll or two.

And all the children dress up as little witches to deliver easter cards to friends and family!" "Scary black witches with green faces?" "No! Not that kind of witch!
